Nintendo demos Switch 2 Mouse Targeting with Joy-Con grip

Nintendo showed Star Fox on Switch 2 and demonstrated a new optional Mouse Targeting mode that uses a Joy-Con held like a mouse for cursor-style aiming.

Nintendo briefly showed Star Fox gameplay for the Nintendo Switch 2 during a recent Nintendo Direct, demonstrating an optional Mouse Targeting mode that lets players hold a single Joy-Con like a mouse to aim.

In the short demonstration, a player holds the Joy-Con in a mouse-like position to activate cursor-style aiming. The mode allows more direct pointing for targets while flying and shooting in the game.

Nintendo presented the feature as optional and intended for intuitive aiming. The company shared a short clip of the mode online but did not include detailed sensitivity settings, control mappings or a technical breakdown in the presentation.

The game is a reimagining titled Star Fox that draws on Star Fox 64 and is in development for the Switch 2. The demo focused on the control option rather than specific levels, story details or performance information.

The Mouse Targeting mode appears to be offered alongside traditional stick-based controls so players can choose their preferred aiming method. Nintendo did not announce a release date or provide a full list of control options during the Direct.
