Nintendo to Produce 20 Million Switch 2 Consoles in FY2027
Nintendo plans to produce 20 million Switch 2 consoles in fiscal 2027, above its 16.5 million sales forecast in the company’s year‑end report.
Nintendo plans to produce 20 million Switch 2 consoles during its fiscal year 2027. That production target is higher than the 16.5 million unit sales forecast the company published in its year‑end financial report.
Internal production planning now points to 20 million units after the Switch 2 shipped roughly 19.86 million consoles in its launch year. Earlier, Nintendo forecast 15 million units for the launch year, later raising that projection to 19 million and exceeding the revised target.
The company has announced price increases for the Switch 2 in Japan and in Western markets.
The software schedule for the next fiscal period lists Splatoon Raiders for July 23. Other titles discussed within the industry, including a rumored Ocarina of Time remake and a planned Pokémon title called Winds & Waves, have not been confirmed for release before the end of the fiscal year on March 31, 2027.
If those titles are released before March 31, 2027, they would fall inside the fiscal year and be counted in fiscal 2027 sales figures.
Nintendo previously adjusted its public forecasts based on sales: it initially set a 15 million target for the Switch 2 launch year, increased that target to 19 million, and ultimately shipped about 19.86 million units.
Actual sales in fiscal 2027 will depend on hardware availability, pricing, retailer orders and the timing of major software releases.
