Nintendo issues Switch and Switch 2 update 22.5.0

Update 22.5.0, released June 15, 2026, redesigns the eShop and adds 10-second video skip on Switch, and adds Dutch and Russian Text-to-Speech and GameChat language support on Switch 2.

Nintendo released system update 22.5.0 for the Switch and Switch 2 on June 15, 2026. The Switch receives a redesigned Nintendo eShop layout and a 10-second rewind/advance video control, while the Switch 2 gains Dutch and Russian language options for accessibility and voice chat. Nintendo lists general system stability improvements for both consoles.

On the Switch 2, version 22.5.0 adds Dutch and Russian to Text-to-Speech options in Accessibility settings. The update adds Dutch and Russian as languages for the “Change Speech ⇔ Text During GameChat” feature, which converts spoken chat to text or text to speech during multiplayer voice chats. Nintendo includes a note about general system stability improvements aimed at improving system behavior.

On the original Switch, the eShop layout has been redesigned. When the console theme is set to Basic Dark in System Settings, the eShop color scheme will match the theme color. The update allows a User-Verification PIN to confirm actions when accessing the Nintendo eShop and when using saved payment methods. Full-screen videos in News and the eShop can be rewound or advanced by 10 seconds using the ZL and ZR buttons.

Nintendo posted the full patch notes on its official support page and began distributing the firmware on June 15. Users who are not prompted to install the update can apply it manually via System Settings and the system firmware update option. The release follows an April firmware update and a March Switch 2 update that added Handheld Boost Mode and other performance options.
