Obsidian-Developed Fallout Confirmed; PS6 Release Speculated

Bethesda confirmed in a studio letter posted to social media that a new Fallout title is in development with Obsidian Entertainment. The announcement appeared alongside ongoing Fallout 76 updates and planned remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

The studio wrote: “The wasteland continues to expand as we team up once again with our longtime friends at Obsidian Entertainment. We’re happy to confirm they’re working with us on a new Fallout project. We’ll have more to share in the future.” The message did not include additional project details.

Bethesda did not provide a release window, a platform list, gameplay information or a production timeline. The announcement named Obsidian as the development partner and noted the project as part of the publisher’s current Fallout activity.

Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas and later released Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds and Grounded. The studio is also working on the upcoming RPG Avowed.

Observers have speculated the new Fallout could appear on PlayStation 6, citing the game’s status as a major franchise entry. Bethesda and Obsidian did not address platform plans or exclusivity in the studio letter.

Bethesda confirmed remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas and reiterated ongoing support for Fallout 76. Both companies indicated they will share further information about the new Fallout title at a later date.
