Onimusha: Way of the Sword tipped for Sept. 25, 2026

A social media leaker has suggested Capcom plans to release Onimusha: Way of the Sword for PlayStation 5 on Sept. 25, 2026. The source warned the information may be old and subject to change.

The leaker previously posted an image that later matched a confirmed game logo, a detail some observers have pointed to when assessing the claim’s credibility. Sony is scheduled to host a State of Play livestream in the coming days and Summer Game Fest follows shortly after; either showcase could include an official announcement.

The Sept. 25 date would place Onimusha among multiple PS5 releases in September 2026, including The Blood of Dawnwalker on Sept. 3, Phantom Blade Zero on Sept. 9, Marvel’s Wolverine on Sept. 15 and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter on Sept. 17.

Publishers have adjusted release windows around other major launches later in the year. Rockstar has scheduled Grand Theft Auto 6 for November 2026, which has been cited as a factor in some companies’ scheduling. Microsoft moved Fable to February 2027, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set for Oct. 23, 2026.

Capcom has not confirmed a release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The Onimusha franchise is a samurai-themed action series that blends historical settings with supernatural elements and has appeared on PlayStation platforms in past entries and re-releases. Capcom has not released details on gameplay, scope, or whether the title is a new entry or a reinterpretation of earlier games.
