Onimusha: Way of the Sword to Run 1080p/30fps on Switch 2

Capcom announced the Switch 2 version will run at 1920×1080/30fps in TV mode (1600×900 handheld, both upscaled); other platforms may reach 3840×2160/60fps. Launch: Sept. 25, 2026.

Capcom released technical details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword alongside the Switch 2 version’s reveal and launch date. The Switch 2 edition is scheduled for release on September 25, 2026, and is available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop.

On Switch 2 in TV mode the game will run at 1920×1080 and target 30 frames per second. Handheld play will target 1600×900, with both modes relying on upscaling to reach those resolutions. Capcom’s notes also include an option to enable a “variable frame rate between 30 and 40 fps” on the system for players who prefer smoother motion.

Other platform versions are listed to support up to 3840×2160 resolution and 60fps. Capcom did not specify which consoles or PC configurations will receive the 4K/60fps performance in its announcement.

The Nintendo eShop listing gives an estimated download size of 34.1GB for the Switch 2 version and lists pre-order bonuses that include a Lion Dog charm and a sword Sealed Curse appearance.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a sword-focused action game set in an altered Edo-period Kyoto. The narrative follows a samurai who uses the Oni Gauntlet, an artifact that grants the power to defeat Genma, creatures described as monstrosities from the underworld. Levels are presented as battlefields affected by Malice, where players face close-quarters sword combat.

Capcom’s technical notes emphasize the use of upscaling for both TV and handheld modes on Switch 2 and the availability of a variable frame rate toggle. The publisher’s eShop listing provides the official launch date, file-size estimate and pre-order content for players preparing to download and install the game.
