Only 18% Say PS Plus Short-Term Plans Offer Value

Survey: 18% say PS Plus one- and three-month plans offer good value after Sony raises prices for new customers.

Sony will raise prices for PS Plus one-month and three-month subscriptions for new customers later this week. Annual subscriptions will not change and current annual members will not be affected.

A reader poll conducted after the announcement found 18% of respondents indicated the one- and three-month plans still offer good value. Sixty-four percent responded that the short-term plans are not worth it and 19% were unsure. The poll did not disclose its sample size.

Reaction on social media included a user on X who wrote, ‘it should be free to play online games without paywalls in 2026.’ The comment drew widespread replies.

The price increase applies only to the shorter billing cycles. According to industry observers, the change appears intended to make the annual plan more attractive and discourage customers from switching between short subscriptions.

Recent monthly game offerings include Nine Sols, Monster Hunter Rise and Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. Some players highlighted cloud save storage as an expectation and suggested a small amount of free space for all users and larger storage for paid members.

Reports indicate Sony is seeking additional revenue from its existing user base to cover higher costs such as tariffs and component shortages. Analysts note that keeping the annual rate unchanged preserves a lower per-month cost for committed subscribers.
