Ontos for PS5 delayed to 2027
Frictional Games and publisher Kepler Interactive moved Ontos, the PS5 AAA sci‑fi adventure unveiled at The Game Awards 2025, from a planned 2026 release to 2027.
Frictional Games and publisher Kepler Interactive announced that Ontos, a AAA science-fiction adventure first shown at The Game Awards 2025, will now arrive in 2027 instead of 2026. The companies did not provide a specific quarter or date for the 2027 launch. The game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Frictional described Ontos as its most ambitious title to date and cited the game’s size, scale and narrative layers as reasons for the delay. In a statement the studio wrote: “Ontos is our most ambitious game to date, both in terms of its size and scale, and in the depth and layers of our story and gameplay. In order to deliver this vision, we have decided to push the release of Ontos to 2027. We look forward to sharing more updates about Ontos, our characters, and our world soon.”
The game centers on Aditi Amani, who is invited to a repurposed lunar hotel called Samsara by the legacy of her estranged father. What begins as a search for answers becomes stranger as Samsara is presented as a place where reality fractures and truths sit beneath layers of deception.
Frictional is the developer behind 2015’s science-fiction horror title SOMA. Kepler Interactive is publishing Ontos. Both companies promoted the game after its trailer debut, and Frictional indicated it will provide further updates on characters and the game’s world as development continues.
