Orbitals arrives Sept. 3 on Switch 2 as console exclusive
Orbitals, an anime-inspired two-player co-op platformer, launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 3, 2026; pre-orders are live on the Switch eShop.
Orbitals will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 3, 2026. Pre-orders are available now on the Switch eShop. The standard edition is priced at £34.99 / $39.99. A Deluxe Edition bundles additional character and ship skins, a digital artbook and the digital soundtrack. Nintendo lists the game as a Switch 2 console exclusive; no other platforms have been announced.
The game is a two-player co-op platformer in which players control space explorers Maki and Omura and work together to guide them across the galaxy to save their home. Design centers on asymmetric cooperation: each character has distinct abilities that must be combined to solve puzzles and advance through levels.
Orbitals supports local split-screen play and a local or online option using Nintendo’s GameShare feature. The title does not offer a single-player mode.
The story presents a hazardous Storm Wall and dangers beyond it that require coordination and clear communication between partners. Levels consist of short, focused puzzle encounters that rely on paired mechanics.
Visually, Orbitals uses a retro, morning-anime style that references classic anime aesthetics rather than recent platformer art trends. Gameplay mechanics have been compared to other cooperative titles that emphasize paired character abilities and puzzle-focused encounters.
The game was first revealed at last year’s Game Awards and its Sept. 3 release date was confirmed during Nintendo’s most recent Direct presentation. No details have been announced about post-launch content or cross-play support.
