Outbound launches today on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The title is available day one on Xbox Game Pass and via Xbox Cloud as an Xbox Play Anywhere release.

The game was developed by Square Glade Games. Outbound is an open-world exploration game set in a near-future setting where players convert an empty camper van into a mobile home and travel across diverse biomes.

The Fire Lookout sits atop the highest hill in the starting meadows and provides a 360-degree view of the valley. The structure contains an interior terminal where players can download a blueprint to upgrade an early-game workbench used for base and vehicle improvements.

The Lighthouse appears on the coast and includes an environmental puzzle tied to a broken main light. Players must craft electronic components to replace the bulb and restore the beacon, combining resource collection with basic circuit crafting.

Paws & Whiskers Lodge is located near the start of the map and functions as an adoption site for dogs. Players can adopt a dog to travel with them, feed and train the companion, and keep it in the van for the remainder of the playthrough.

The Windmill sits on a mountain surrounded by tulip fields and overlooks nearby wheat fields. Instead of milling grain, the windmill grinds flower petals into pigments that players can use to paint furniture and vehicle decorations.

The Red Rock Rapids Kayak Club is positioned between two waterfalls and spans both sides of a lake and a river. The landmark includes a community hub focused on canoe and kayak activities and features a repair task to fix a broken bridge.

Outbound’s systems center on modular building and sustainable energy. Players collect materials, craft items, and mount workstations on and inside their vehicle using modular parts. Energy options include solar panels, wind turbines and water-based systems. Garden plots let players grow vegetables and mushrooms for cooking and health, and paints and decorations can be applied to furniture and the camper van.

The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Progression involves upgrading the camper van’s structure and systems, expanding crafting capabilities and unlocking technology through blueprints found at locations such as the Fire Lookout.
