PlayStation Pauses PC Releases of Single-Player PS5 Games

PlayStation studio head Hermen Hulst told employees at a Monday town hall that single-player PS5 games will not be released on PC for now; multiplayer titles will continue to appear on PC.

Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation’s studio business, told employees at a Monday internal town hall that PlayStation will pause PC releases of single-player PlayStation 5 games for the time being. Multiplayer-focused projects will still be released on PC.

Employees attending the meeting were given examples of projects that will continue to appear on PC, including Marathon and the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. By contrast, single-player titles such as Ghost of Yotei and future Spider-Man entries were described as remaining exclusive to PlayStation consoles.

Company representatives told staff that two single-player games will still reach PC in the near term: Death Stranding 2, which recently launched on PC, and the upcoming Kena: Scares of Kosmora. Beyond those releases, single-player PS5 titles are not expected to be ported while the current stance is in effect.

No formal explanation was offered at the town hall for the change. Employees noted that recent PC ports have not met sales expectations, and staff indicated that the policy could be revisited in the future if conditions change.

The announcement follows earlier internal discussions this year about reducing the number of PC releases. Company leaders have weighed the commercial performance of PC ports alongside the role of console-exclusive software in supporting PlayStation hardware sales.

Officials emphasized that the restriction applies to single-player projects and that multiplayer titles will continue to be distributed on PC. They also said the status is subject to change and could be updated if strategy or market conditions shift.
