PlayStation Plus adds PS5-exclusive Rise of the Ronin
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have added PS5-exclusive Rise of the Ronin in the US, UK and Japan; other regions will receive the game on July 21.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have added the PS5-exclusive open-world RPG Rise of the Ronin to their catalogs in the US, UK and Japan. Other regions will receive the title on July 21.
The game was developed by Team Ninja and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is the first PS5 title added to the Extra and Premium catalogs for July 2026 in those markets.
Rise of the Ronin is set in Japan in 1863. Sony’s plot description reads: “After three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s oppressive rule, the Black Ships of the West descend upon the nation’s borders and the country falls into a state of turmoil. Amidst the chaos of war, disease, and political unrest, a nameless warrior forges their own path, holding the very fate of Japan in their hands.” Players explore open-world areas and make narrative choices that affect the story.
Sony has been staggering the rollout of PS Plus Extra and Premium additions. Subscribers in the US, UK and Japan can access Rise of the Ronin immediately; users in remaining territories will find it in their Extra and Premium libraries on Tuesday, July 21.
Sony confirmed a second batch of catalog additions arriving on July 21. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Firefighting Simulator: Ignite will be added to Extra, while Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Indigo Prophecy will be added to Premium.
Rise of the Ronin launched in 2024 as a PS5 console exclusive. Its inclusion in the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogs gives subscribers access without a separate purchase while the game remains part of the subscription offering.
