PlayStation Plus October free games start rolling out

PlayStation Plus’ October free games began rolling out Oct. 6, including F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 (Hello Neighbor in Japan) and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.

PlayStation Plus’ October monthly free games began rolling out on Oct. 6. Subscribers can claim F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 (Hello Neighbor in Japan) and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 once the titles appear in the PlayStation Store.

The lineup started appearing in regions already in Oct. 6, including Japan and parts of Asia. The base tier’s monthly free games follow the PlayStation Store update schedule and become available at noon local time when the storefront refreshes. Any active subscriber to the base tier can add the games to their library as they appear.

F1 25 is the official game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship and is available for PS5. The title emphasizes single-player content, including Career and the updated My Team 2.0, and adds an Owner role that lets players run a Formula 1 team across seasons.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 for PS5 revisits the franchise’s extraction shooter format in a historical-flavored setting. Players hunt alone or with friends through corrupted backwaters, facing twisted monsters and rival hunters to secure bounties. In Japan, Hello Neighbor is offered instead of Hunt: Showdown 1896 for October.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is available for PS5 and PS4. The game presents a stylized, square-art look and sends players against giant enemies. Players assemble a four-member team from collected characters, select equipment and loadouts, and deploy into missions to rescue scattered teammates and fight the invasion.

Subscribers who missed September’s monthly games can still claim them for a limited time. That lineup included MLB: The Show 26 (PS5), Sniper Elite: Resistance (PS5, PS4), Chained Echoes (PS4) and Wobbly Life (PS5, PS4). Games added during their free period remain available to download while the subscription is active.

The PlayStation Store update cycle determines when monthly free games become available, tied to local noon updates rather than a single global timestamp.
