PlayStation has begun emailing active Grand Theft Auto V players and sending direct messages to PlayStation 4 users who have wishlisted Grand Theft Auto VI in the PlayStation Store. The messages include QR codes that link to pages to purchase a PlayStation 5.
The communications state Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, and that the game will not be released for PS4. One message reads, “Get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026.” The in-console notices include QR codes that point to PS5 system purchase pages.
The outreach encourages upgrades so players are on current-generation hardware at the game’s release. At launch, the title will require a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X|S to run.
