Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen and Pokopia Top 4M Sales

FireRed and LeafGreen sold over 4 million copies on Nintendo Switch in six weeks despite a $19.99 price controversy; Pokopia hit 4 million on Switch 2 in five weeks.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company reported that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen sold more than 4 million copies globally on Nintendo Switch within six weeks of their release. Pokémon Pokopia reached more than 4 million sales on Nintendo Switch 2 within five weeks.

FireRed and LeafGreen were priced at $19.99 in the U.S. and £16.99 in the U.K. Critics pointed to the Switch ports’ small file size and limited technical changes; the releases occupy about 33.4MB and do not include added visual filters or similar enhancements. Nintendo reported the combined sales figure for the two remakes.

Pokopia sold out at retailers in multiple countries at launch. Nintendo’s sales totals cover both digital downloads and physical retail sales.

The original Game Boy Advance releases of FireRed and LeafGreen sold about 12 million copies worldwide. The Switch re-releases’ combined sales in the first six weeks equal about one-third of that lifetime total.

Nintendo indicated no new mainline Pokémon titles are scheduled for 2026 and confirmed Pokémon Winds and Waves for Nintendo Switch 2 with a 2027 release window.
