Postal 2 Redux coming to PS5, PSVR2 in Spring 2027

Postal 2 Redux, a full remake of the 2003 cult action game, arrives in Spring 2027 on PS5, PSVR2, PS4, PC and Quest, marking the series’ PlayStation debut.

Postal 2 Redux, a remake of the 2003 action game Postal 2, will launch in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, PSVR2, PlayStation 4, PC and Quest. The announcement marks the franchise’s first release on PlayStation hardware. Developers say next-generation and VR editions will arrive first, with other platforms to follow at a later date; no exact date has been provided.

The project is led by Running With Scissors with co-development support from Impact Reality. The team rebuilt the game in Unity 6 and reworked each major system to run on modern hardware and scale across platforms.

Technical updates include higher-resolution textures, upgraded lighting, new shaders and materials, and a level streaming system intended to make movement through the game world smoother than in the 2003 release. Non-player character systems have been rebuilt to make crowds more responsive to player actions.

Gameplay systems were also revised. Combat and physics were rebalanced to feel heavier and more reactive, and the studio says the environment will respond dynamically to player choices so playthroughs vary. The Postal Dude’s dog Champ returns with new interactions: players can pet him, take him along or use him in combat situations.

Impact Reality described Postal 2 Redux as a sandbox where “players decide how each day unfolds, playing their way from mild-mannered to mayhem, in a living, reactive world where no two playthroughs are ever the same.” Running With Scissors founder and CEO Vince Desi added that the team aimed to bring modern technology and game systems to the original vision and that community response influenced development.

The studio confirmed PlayStation editions will include modern controls and console-specific optimization when the game arrives in Spring 2027. Further details, including exact release dates for additional consoles, will be announced at a later time.
