Professor Layton PS5 Remake Lands in 2027

Level-5 will release a PS5 remake of Professor Layton and the Curious Village in 2027 for current-generation platforms excluding Xbox Series X|S.

Level-5 announced a PlayStation 5 remake of the 2007 puzzle-adventure Professor Layton and the Curious Village, scheduled for release in 2027. The studio confirmed the title will appear on current-generation platforms but excluded Xbox Series X|S.

The company said the remake will feature updated visuals and an expanded presentation for modern displays. A trailer released with the announcement shows characters and environments rendered in three dimensions.

Level-5 described the project as offering “stunning visuals and greater immersion.” The studio added that characters have been reimagined in 3D, exploration is intended to include greater depth and detail, and many scenes have been refreshed with high-resolution, widescreen animations.

The game’s plot follows Professor Hershel Layton and his apprentice Luke as they travel to the village of St. Mystere to investigate a baron’s will. The will indicates the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden in the town and the heir to the Reinhold Estate will be whoever finds it. The pair search the village for clues that lead to the heirloom.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village first launched in 2007 as a Nintendo-exclusive and introduced the series’ mix of puzzles and narrative. The franchise later expanded with sequels and spin-offs; Level-5 said this is the first official remake of the original entry for modern consoles.

No exact release date, price or full platform list were provided. Level-5 indicated it will share further details at a later time.
