PS Plus users warned not to re-download Dying Light 2

Sony has warned PS Plus subscribers not to download Dying Light 2: Stay Human (Reloaded Edition) from the PS Plus Extra catalog if they already redeemed it as a monthly free game. Re-downloading from Extra can overwrite the earlier license and prevent players from accessing the game later.

The issue affects players who claimed Dying Light 2 through the PS Plus Essential monthly free games and then download the same title from the Extra catalog on a PS5 or PS4. When a game is re-downloaded from Extra, the console replaces the original entitlement with an Extra/Premium access right that is tied to the subscription rather than permanent ownership.

Games redeemed as monthly freebies on the Essential tier become permanent additions to a subscriber’s library. Games accessed via the Extra or Premium catalog are part of a rotating selection and can be removed. If the Extra/Premium entitlement replaces the original license and the game leaves the Extra catalog, the player may lose access unless they purchase the game.

Dying Light 2 was added as a monthly free game on August 4. The Reloaded Edition is available in the Extra catalog now in most regions; the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan are set to see the Extra listing on August 25.
