PS Store adds two free PS5 RPG betas: Mistfall Hunter, Once Human
The PS Store has added two free-to-play PS5 RPG betas-Mistfall Hunter and Once Human-available now to all PS5 owners without a PS Plus subscription.
Sony’s PlayStation Store has launched beta versions of two free-to-play PS5 role-playing games, Mistfall Hunter and Once Human. Both titles are available now for download on the PS Store and do not require a PS Plus subscription during the beta period.
Once Human is already available on PC and mobile, where it has earned positive player ratings. Its PS5 version is currently in beta, with a full release on PlayStation scheduled for sometime in 2026. The game blends shooter mechanics with role-playing progression in a multiplayer open world where players cooperate to survive and investigate the cause of an apocalypse.
Mistfall Hunter is listed as a PvPvE extraction action RPG and is in beta on PS5 ahead of a full free-to-play launch set for July 29, 2026. An official description reads: “The gods have fallen, and the Gyldenmist is consuming the world. Revived by a mysterious girl named Dew, you are thrust into a bleak world to harvest Gyldenblood and mend the shattered Web of Fate.”
Both games are listed with free-to-play business models at full launch. The PS Store entries allow any PS5 user to download and play the betas without PS Plus access.
Store descriptions emphasize different core mechanics: Once Human focuses on cooperative survival and combat across an open map, while Mistfall Hunter centers on extraction-style matches in which players compete with each other and face environmental threats to secure resources.
Publishers are using the beta periods to collect player feedback and adjust gameplay before the wider releases. No payment is required to access the current PS5 betas.
