PS Store adds free PS5 game Schizophrenia

PlayStation Store adds Schizophrenia, a free short psychological horror for PS5 by indie developer TheCourget; contains suicide, self-harm and violence, no PS Plus required.

PlayStation Store has added Schizophrenia for PS5, a free short psychological horror from indie developer TheCourget. The title is available to download without a PlayStation Plus subscription.

Schizophrenia debuted on PC about a year ago; the PS5 version is on the PlayStation Store now. The developer describes the game as an introduction to a larger, darker story that combines psychological horror with alternate-reality-game elements. The official overview reads, “You enter in a weird, dark and distorted world, with unsolved mysteries, and an ARG [alternate reality game]. The introduction to something bigger, darker.”

Players assume the role of a man diagnosed with schizophrenia and progress through a linear, narrative-driven sequence. The listing warns the game contains themes of suicide, self-harm and physical violence and may be disturbing or triggering for some players.

TheCourget estimates a single playthrough at around 15 minutes; completing trophies could extend play to roughly 30 minutes. The PS5 release includes seven trophies, three Gold, two Silver and two Bronze, and no Platinum. The PlayStation Store notes the trophies are quick and easy.

User ratings on the PlayStation Store sit near four out of five stars. Schizophrenia is free to download on the PlayStation Store for PS5.
