PS4/PS5 voxel shooter Mega Zombie to end online service 2026

Mega Zombie will terminate PlayStation online services worldwide on September 14, 2026. The developer cited rising server maintenance costs and difficulty providing a stable service as the reason for the shutdown.

The game launched on PS4 in 2021 and is playable on PS5. It used a free-to-play model and a voxel art style. The title was later released on mobile devices but remained console-exclusive to PlayStation hardware.

The developer’s statement read: “We would like to sincerely thank all the players who have played and supported Mega Zombie Beta on PlayStation over the years.” It added that a review of long-term operation, server maintenance costs and the current service environment made it difficult to continue a stable online service.

Mega Zombie kept a beta label for most of its time on current-generation consoles. Official social channels have been inactive since 2022, and players reported regional server outages before the global closure was announced. Player reports indicate activity continued through 2022 and into 2023.

All in-game trophies are tied to online play. The developer did not provide information about refunds, account transfers or an offline mode. Players are advised to claim trophies and any online progress before the September 14, 2026 shutdown.

The developer thanked players in the announcement and urged the community to note the termination date.
