PS4 horror Remothered games get free PS5 upgrades

Stormind announced PS4 owners of Remothered: Tormented Fathers and Broken Porcelain can upgrade to PS5 remasters free during the first seven days after their Q1 2027 launch.

Stormind announced that owners of the PS4 versions of Remothered: Tormented Fathers and Remothered: Broken Porcelain can upgrade to PS5 remastered editions at no extra charge during the first seven days after the remasters launch in Q1 2027. The developer released a new trailer previewing the updated releases. Full instructions on how to claim the upgrade and details on availability for other platforms will be provided closer to release. The offer applies only to players who already own the original PS4 copies and is limited to the seven-day window following the Q1 2027 launch date.

The remastered editions are being rebuilt with Unreal Engine 5 and will include upgraded environments, improved lighting and higher visual fidelity for PS5 hardware. Stormind noted legacy bugs from the original releases will be addressed while maintaining the original gameplay and story structure; the studio added the updates are intended to improve presentation and immersion without changing core mechanics.

Remothered began with Tormented Fathers in 2018 and continued with Broken Porcelain in 2020. Both titles use stealth-based survival mechanics and investigative elements and emphasize psychological horror over action. The remasters are intended to preserve those design choices while modernizing visuals and smoothing technical issues that affected earlier versions.

Before the remastered editions arrive on PS5, Stormind will release the third main entry in the series, Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, on October 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Stormind described the game as: “Enter a nightmare to save her, survive what hunts you, and uncover the Red Nun’s truth through retrocognition, mirror abilities, and moth manipulation. A modern return to classic survival horror with an Italian neo-giallo twist.” The new title follows a protagonist whose daughter is kidnapped and introduces mechanics the studio identifies as retrocognition, mirror abilities and moth manipulation.

Further specifics about platform availability, file transfers and the exact process for redeeming the free PS5 upgrades are expected in the weeks ahead. Stormind plans to update the older releases for current-generation consoles while completing the trilogy with Red Nun’s Legacy.
