PS5 beta shows weekly player counts, US top 10
Sony’s PS5 beta Welcome Hub widget lists weekly unique player counts and a U.S. top 10; Fortnite led with 14.6 million players in the past seven days.
Sony’s PS5 beta Welcome Hub widget is surfacing weekly player counts and a country-specific top 10 for select testers. The widget reports the total number of unique players who launched each title at least once during the previous seven days.
A video posted online revealed U.S. figures from the widget: Fortnite at 14.6 million players, Grand Theft Auto V at 5.13 million, Minecraft at 4.97 million, Call of Duty at 4.95 million, Apex Legends at 1.72 million, Marvel Rivals at 1.58 million, Battlefield 6 at 1.51 million and ARC Raiders at 972,000. The display is labeled as a top 10, indicating there are additional entries not shown in the clip.
The widget measures weekly unique launches rather than concurrent players. It has not been confirmed whether the numbers combine PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 activity; the examples seen appear focused on PS5 use.
A toggle within the widget highlights games experiencing sudden surges in activity after updates or discounts. That surge view is intended to show short-term rises in engagement contrasted with the more stable weekly totals.
The feature is optional for beta testers and may be adjusted before a wider release. Sony has not announced a rollout schedule. Regional results are expected to vary; titles like EA Sports FC are more likely to rank higher in Europe and the U.K. than in the U.S.
Sony has provided limited platform-wide engagement data in the past. The Welcome Hub widget is among the first interface elements to present region-specific weekly counts directly on the PS5, and it would give players a way to see how titles perform in their local PlayStation community if it reaches a public release.
