PS5 Players Can Try Dynasty Warriors 3 Remaster Free

Koei Tecmo has released a free demo of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered on the PlayStation Store for PS5. The demo is available without a PlayStation Plus subscription and will remain live ahead of the full remaster’s Oct. 1, 2026 launch.

The demo presents a recreated version of the Battle of Hulao Gate. Players can control six officers-Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, Zhen Ji, Zhou Yu and Sun Shangxiang-and choose from multiple difficulty settings. The demo is downloadable on PS5, and PlayStation Plus Premium members can stream it from the cloud.

Koei Tecmo warns that save data from the demo cannot be carried over into the retail release and that some demo elements may differ from the final product.

The Complete Edition Remastered packages the original 2001 Dynasty Warriors 3 with the Xtreme Legends expansion. Koei Tecmo’s overview reads: “Play as more than 40 different officers in the world of the Three Kingdoms, taking on thrilling and tactical battles of 1 vs. 1,000 on vast battlefields.”

Content from Xtreme Legends included in the remaster adds new stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao. The expansion content also brings bodyguard customization, new weapons and four types of challenge modes.

Koei Tecmo has not released a comprehensive list of changes versus the original titles. The demo allows players to sample combat pacing and the available roster before the Oct. 1 release while preventing progression or inventory from carrying over into the full game.
