PS5 players get one-week free access to GTA Online

Rockstar is letting PS5 and current-generation console players access GTA Online without PlayStation Plus through July 20, 2026 to try The Kortz Center Heist.

Rockstar is offering free access to GTA Online on PlayStation 5 and other current-generation consoles for one week, through July 20, 2026. During the promotional period, players do not need an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Essential subscription to play the online mode.

The temporary free access coincides with the release of The Kortz Center Heist update. The update centers on a new heist that sends players into a museum-style location to steal high-value works of art. The drop also adds new vehicles and implements changes to the game’s Mission Creator mode.

Players on PS5 and other current-generation systems can download and play GTA Online during the promotional window without a paid online subscription. Users who do not subscribe to console online services can access the new heist and recent content additions during the free week.

Rockstar released The Kortz Center Heist as one of the final major content drops for GTA Online ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has described plans for a substantial online component for the next game while confirming an online mode will not be available at launch.

After July 20, 2026, standard subscription requirements will apply to continue playing GTA Online on consoles.
