PS5 Pre-Orders Get Early Access to Modern Warfare 4 Beta

Activision will grant PS5 pre-orders early access to the open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Digital pre-orders are available on the PlayStation Store and physical copies include beta codes distributed by retailers.

Activision described the early-access perk as an opportunity to “provide essential feedback to help ensure the best day one experience possible when the game launches on October 23.” The company called it early access to an open beta, indicating the test may later be opened to a wider group of players.

No beta dates have been announced. The company plans to provide additional details at a later time.

Players who buy the digital PS5 version on the PlayStation Store will receive immediate access to the early beta entitlement. Customers who pre-order physical copies should contact their retailer for information on how and when beta codes will be delivered.

Activision has not specified platform restrictions beyond the PS5 pre-order benefit and has not confirmed whether other platforms will receive similar pre-order incentives.

Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to release on October 23. Activision positioned the beta as a chance for pre-ordering players to test multiplayer systems and report issues ahead of launch.

Last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 received negative critical response despite strong sales. Microsoft removed Call of Duty titles from Xbox Game Pass after a reported $300 million cost tied to the earlier arrangement.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release in November, creating additional competition in the market.
