Heartworm, an indie horror-adventure inspired by PS1-era Silent Hill and Resident Evil, will arrive on PS5 and PS4 on Oct. 1, 2026. The game first released on Steam in 2025 and holds a “Very Positive” player rating.
The game was developed by Vincent Adinolfi and will be published on consoles by DreadXP. Versions for Nintendo Switch and Xbox are listed but their release dates have not been confirmed. The PlayStation Store price and the store page are expected to appear closer to launch.
Heartworm follows Sam, who is grieving her grandfather. She finds a mysterious online forum and seeks a way to reconnect with him “on the other side.” Her search leads to a house on a mountain described as supernatural and to a series of memory-driven environments.
The game’s overview says, “Pass through the threshold and enter a world born of memories.” It adds, “Defend yourself with a camera while solving death’s mysteries in a reverent evolution of 90s survival horror, integrating both fixed cameras and over-the-shoulder perspectives.”
Gameplay alternates fixed camera angles with over-the-shoulder viewpoints. Players use a camera as a defensive tool while solving puzzles and encountering survival elements. Estimated play time is four to six hours, and the title includes multiple endings.
Steam player response helped raise the game’s profile ahead of the console launch. DreadXP will handle console publishing; the publisher has not confirmed platform-specific features or whether Switch and Xbox versions will share the Oct. 1 release date.
DreadXP is expected to publish screenshots and the PlayStation Store listing before the October release.
