PS5 Recently Played, playtime tracker still broken

PS5’s Recently Played and playtime tracker have failed to register games played after May 2026; Sony has not commented and there is no timeline for a fix.

Millions of PlayStation 5 owners cannot use the console’s Recently Played feature or the playtime tracker for games played after May 2026. The functions stopped registering sessions in mid-June and have not returned to normal.

The fault prevents titles launched after May from appearing on the PlayStation Network for recent activity. Hours played, campaign completion percentages and recent trophy progress do not update in the PlayStation App or the Recently Played widget on the PS5 Welcome Hub.

Players first reported the problem in mid-June. Reports indicate both disc-based and digital games are affected; several users noted the issue appears more common with disc copies, while others reported the same symptoms with downloaded titles.

Dozens of forum threads and social posts document the same symptoms. One player posted on social media: “My hours played and campaign progress were wiped out.”

Users say recorded playtime totals reset to zero for affected titles and that the Recently Played shortcut no longer lists sessions. Some players used those displays to resume games quickly and to track campaign and trophy progress.

Sony has not issued a public statement, offered guidance or provided a timeline for a fix. There is no confirmation whether the functions were disabled for maintenance or whether the issue is related to a backend change.

Affected players can report the problem through official support channels and continue to share workarounds on community threads. There is no confirmed fix and no official estimate for when tracking and recent session displays will be restored.
