PS5 State of Play debuts Marvel’s Wolverine, shows Ace Combat 8
Sony’s State of Play premiered PS5 Pro gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine, opened pre-orders and revealed Ace Combat 8, along with release dates and platform details for several titles.
Sony used its State of Play livestream to premiere extended gameplay of Marvel’s Wolverine running on a PS5 Pro build and to reveal Ace Combat 8. The stream opened pre-orders for Wolverine immediately after the broadcast.
The Wolverine footage included cinematic set-pieces, motorcycle chases and sequences with combat on moving vehicles. The presenter described the title as “a single player action adventure game” and added “the game is built to take full advantage of the PS5 consoles.” The footage included Jean Grey and other familiar Marvel characters and teased a villain roster led by Doctor Doom.
Ace Combat 8 was shown live during the event. Sony confirmed Ace Combat Zero will be offered on PS5 as a pre-order bonus for the new entry.
The stream set release dates and platform details for a range of games. Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for September 24, Dune: Awakening for September 22, and Control Resonant for September 24. Rayman Legends Retold is due October 1. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is slated for February 12, 2027.
Onimusha content included a demo available the same day on PS5 and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams arriving on PS Plus Premium. RuneScape: Dragonwilds will launch day one into PS Plus Extra. Remedy’s Control Resonant received an extended look and ILL is targeting a 2027 release. Sony announced a deeper presentation for Phantom Blade Zero later in the summer.
The broadcast ran at scheduled times for multiple regions and combined updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party publishers with gameplay demos, release dates and platform availability. The stream drew large viewership on the platform hosting the live feed.
