PS5 to Get Tang Dynasty RPG Tianji in 2027

Justdan International announced Tianji: Shadow of the Ancients will arrive on PlayStation 5 in 2027; Nintendo Switch (1 & 2) and PC versions are planned, Xbox not announced.

Justdan International announced Tianji: Shadow of the Ancients, a Tang Dynasty turn-based role-playing game from the creator of the Xuan-Yuan Sword series. The publisher set a 2027 release window for PlayStation 5 and lists Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 and PC as additional platforms. An Xbox edition was not announced.

The game places players in the role of Shangguan Shuo, a protagonist who wakes with amnesia and must recover his past while navigating a wider conspiracy. Publisher materials describe the plot: “On a journey to reclaim his past and true identity, he will explore the landscapes of Bashu and a mysterious millennium-old subterranean city, gradually becoming entangled in the massive conspiracy of the mysterious Xuanxin Order.” The story is set during the Tianbao era and begins as the Imperial Court’s Tianji Guard investigates a thousand-year-old ruin in Bashu.

Tianji is a turn-based RPG that combines classic role-playing mechanics with a combo-focused battle system. The design balances strategic turn-based combat with systems that promote linked attacks and sequences between party members. The publisher has not provided specifics such as party size, character progression or difficulty options.

The announcement included a trailer that shows environments and combat. The publisher did not give a firm release date beyond the 2027 window and indicated a PlayStation Store page will appear at a later date. Further technical details and exact timing are pending future updates from the publisher.
