Psi-Ops arrives on PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, Midway’s 2004 PS2 action-adventure, is available on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4 and added to the PS Plus Premium catalog; release is staggered by region.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, the 2004 PS2 action-adventure developed by Midway, launched on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS4 today and has been added to the PS Plus Premium catalog. The store rollout is staggered by region as digital storefronts update around noon local time. The title is also available as a standalone purchase.

The ports preserve the original single-player campaign. Players control elite agent Nick Scryer and use psychic abilities to confront an organization called the Mindgate Project. An official overview reads: “Wield psychic powers as elite agent Nick Scryer and unravel a shadowy conspiracy within the Mindgate Project, battling rogue operatives and unleashing telekinesis, mind control, and pyrokinesis across mind-bending levels.” The overview notes opponents including General Grienko and a group known as the Six, each with distinct psychic skills.

Midway released the original Psi-Ops for PlayStation 2 in 2004. At launch the game received positive critical response for its combat and psychic mechanics but recorded weak sales. A planned sequel was cancelled after the original underperformed, so these PS5 and PS4 ports are the most direct way to play the title on current PlayStation hardware.

The updated releases include PlayStation trophies: 20 in total, with one Platinum, eight Gold and 11 Silver trophies; no Bronze trophies are listed. The ports aim to retain the single-player experience and do not add new multiplayer modes or additional campaign content.

Gameplay combines shooting with psychic-based mechanics. Players can use telekinesis to move objects and manipulate the environment, employ mind control to alter enemy behavior, and use pyrokinesis as an offensive option. Levels mix direct combat with puzzle-like encounters built around those abilities.

Availability will vary by region as the PlayStation Store updates. PS Plus Premium subscribers can access the game through the catalog without an extra purchase, while other players can buy the standalone version from the store.
