PS5, Switch and PC to get 1999 fighter Psychic Force 2012
Taito will release Psychic Force 2012, a 1999 PlayStation fighting game, on PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2027, announced in a teaser at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Taito announced that Psychic Force 2012, a fighting game first released on Dreamcast and PlayStation in 1999, will be released for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2027. The announcement came in a brief teaser shown at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 and presented a 2027 release window without a specific date.
The teaser confirmed current-generation and portable-console editions alongside a PC version but did not list regions, pricing or a firm launch date. There was no mention of an Xbox version, and a PlayStation storefront entry for the PS5 edition has not appeared.
Psychic Force 2012 originated as an arcade sequel to 1996’s Psychic Force and was released on home consoles in 1999 under the PlayStation name Psychic Force 2. The game was later included in the Psychic Force Complete compilation for PlayStation 2. Gameplay combines one-on-one fighting mechanics with aerial movement and psychic-powered attacks that differ from conventional ground-based fighters.
The series produced additional media during its original run, including an original video animation released in 1998. Older synopses describe a near-future setting where rapid social change brings a dangerous power and authorities experiment on citizens with psychic abilities.
The teaser did not include technical details. It remains unclear whether the PS5 edition will include native next-gen enhancements such as higher frame rates, improved resolution, save-state features, online play or graphical upscales, or whether the Switch and PC versions will match the same presentation. Taito has not provided information about controller support, performance targets or whether any arcade-only elements will be restored or altered.
Taito has not announced platform-specific features, regional rollout plans or pricing. Further information, including a precise release date and storefront listings, has not been released.
