Publishers delist PS5 games as Sony intensifies store purge

Xeneder Team removed much of its PS5 catalogue and Xitilon Games pulled more than 200 low-cost and language-learning titles as Sony tightens enforcement of low-effort listings.

Several PlayStation publishers have begun removing PS5 games from the PlayStation Store ahead of tighter enforcement by Sony. Xeneder Team posted late last week that it had made the “utmost difficult decision to delist a significant portion of our catalogue.” The studio added it intends to continue developing for PS5 but did not name affected titles or give a timetable for future releases.

A separate publisher removed more than 200 entries from the store. The sweep included low-cost games and a number of language-learning apps that critics say offer trophies that can be earned very quickly. One player reported completing a language-learning release in under 15 minutes to earn all available trophies.

The titles being removed generally share low retail prices, short playtimes and trophies that unlock rapidly. Community reports and tracking data indicate Sony has removed tens of thousands of titles from the PlayStation Store in recent months as it enforces content rules aimed at limiting low-effort listings.

Some publishers are withdrawing games before platform-enforced removals. Announcements of delistings have mostly appeared in brief social posts and follow-up statements, with little public detail about which games were removed or why specific entries were affected.

Player reaction has been mixed. Some users said they welcome fewer opportunities for easy trophy farming and a smaller volume of low-effort listings. Other players raised concerns about losing access to legitimately purchased content and the risk of compliant titles being removed in error.

The voluntary delistings add to a wider change in how publishers manage low-cost and niche digital releases on console storefronts. As Sony continues its reviews, some studios are choosing to withdraw products themselves while others have not commented publicly.
