Rahul Kohli’s traffic jam shaped Arjun’s voice in Saros

Footage shows Rahul Kohli developed Arjun Devraj’s angrier vocal take during an early-morning, traffic-delayed performance-capture session for Housemarque’s Saros.

Actor Rahul Kohli discovered the vocal tone used for Arjun Devraj during an early-morning recording session for Housemarque’s shooter Saros after a traffic delay, footage from the studio’s documentary shows.

Finding Carcosa: Becoming Arjun, a chapter of a three-part documentary, includes behind-the-scenes clips from the motion-capture stage and interviews with the cast and development team. The film documents technical setup, rehearsal order and creative choices made while shaping Arjun, a Soltari Enforcer sent to a hostile world to secure a lost mining colony.

Director Paul J. Vogel described the episode as an examination of both technical work and the actor performances that produce in-game characters. The documentary includes on-stage clips of actors in performance-capture suits, calibration routines and rehearsals.

Kohli called his first day on the mocap stage uncomfortable, referencing the tight lycra suit and the time spent on calibration. He laughed about the early awkwardness, then credited advice from veteran performer Troy Baker, who described motion capture as a concentrated form of acting. Kohli later focused on interacting with other actors rather than the cameras.

Performance director Louden organized early sessions around dreamlike material so the cast could experiment before moving into naturalistic, story-driven scenes, an approach intended to help actors find their characters’ voices without full backstories in place.

Senior narrative designer Khalil Osaimi said Kohli’s experience as a gamer affected his input. Osaimi recalled Kohli bringing detailed notes to sessions and working with writer-director Greg to refine small gestures and vocal beats that would register both in captured performances and in recorded dialogue.

Kohli recorded the teaser trailer at an early Los Angeles session because he had to catch a flight and would be unavailable for months. Stuck in traffic and already frustrated, he delivered lines with greater anger and intensity than earlier takes. Kohli recalled that he and the creative team immediately recognized the vocal shift as the right fit for Arjun. He summarized the moment by saying that being unable to hide irritation revealed the character’s voice.

Vogel described the episode as an example of how routine rehearsal, technical preparation and an unpredictable moment combined during the creative process. Saros is available on PS5, and the documentary segment shows how the team translated studio sessions and voice work into the character used in the finished game.
