Rayman Legends Retold aims for 60fps and 4K on Switch 2

PC gameplay for Rayman Legends Retold shown; Switch 2 port targets 60 fps, docked 4K with DLSS and lower handheld resolution. Release set for Oct. 1.

Ubisoft showed gameplay for Rayman Legends Retold from a PC build and said the Switch 2 version is targeting 60 frames per second and a docked 4K image with DLSS used to upscale where needed. Handheld play will use a reduced resolution. The game is scheduled to release on Oct. 1.

The footage, captured from the PC build that was available to try, highlights upgraded visuals across several early levels. Developers also presented a short run of the Switch 2 build and described the port as still in development.

The studio told attendees it is aiming for consistent 60 fps on all platforms. DLSS will be used to reach a 4K presentation in docked mode, while handheld performance will rely on a lower native resolution and adjustments to graphical detail.

Technical director Thibaut Assandri explained, “By reducing the resolution, we’re able to reach [frame rate] numbers that work better — not as good as expected, but much better,” and added that further tweaks to environment and character detail will help meet remaining targets.

Ubisoft Brand Producer Loic Gougnon laughed, “I think we are pushing [Switch 2] to its fullest,” and noted the port benefits from collaboration with the studio’s German team that worked on the Switch 2 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

During the brief Switch 2 demonstration seen by press, reviewers did not record frame-rate drops below 60 fps, though developers emphasized the build shown was early and that performance targets are not final. The team plans to continue adjusting resolution and visual detail prior to the October release.

Rayman Legends Retold is positioned as an updated package of the Rayman Legends platformer with improved visuals for modern hardware. The title remains in active development and may receive further technical and visual changes before its Oct. 1 launch.
