Readers Pick Wolverine as Best PS5 Game in State of Play

Readers in a post-show poll conducted immediately after Sony’s June 2 State of Play named Marvel’s Wolverine the top PS5 game shown. God of War Laufey and several third-party and indie titles received notable support.

The broadcast ran about an hour and included extended gameplay for two first-party titles and a slate of third-party and indie reveals. Wolverine featured a lengthy demonstration billed as the headline presentation. God of War Laufey was revealed late in the show after earlier leaks.

Other entries that attracted votes included Rayman Legends Retold for its visual presentation, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which drew attention after a release date announcement and the launch of a playable demo. In a recap, assistant editor Robert Ramsey wrote, “Sony promised a hefty State of Play for the 2nd June and I think it mostly delivered in terms of overall quality.” He noted the show did not match the scale of larger E3-era press conferences but that it offered a packed lineup.
