Rebel Assault II PS1 classic adds trophies on PS5 and PS4

A surprise update for Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire added 18 trophies on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The set comprises four Bronze, three Silver, ten Gold and one Platinum. The patch arrived roughly two years after the title returned to modern PlayStation systems.

The new trophies are tied to chapter completions and two performance-based challenges. Most trophies unlock when players finish specified chapters; two Gold trophies require meeting accuracy or error-free conditions. The Platinum trophy requires earning all 17 lower-tier trophies first.

Bronze trophies are awarded for completing chapters 1 through 4. The three Silver trophies unlock after finishing chapters 5, 6 and 12. Eight Gold trophies come from completing chapters 7 through 11 and 13 through 15. The remaining two Gold trophies are awarded for the Blast ’em and Ace Pilot challenges. The Blast ’em challenge requires completing chapter 2, 11 or 12 with at least 80 percent shooting accuracy. The Ace Pilot challenge requires completing chapter 3, 7 or 10 with no flight errors.

To earn the Platinum trophy on PS4 and PS5 players must first collect all 17 Bronze, Silver and Gold trophies. That effectively requires completing all 15 chapters and meeting the accuracy and error-free requirements for the two special Gold trophies. Once the lower-tier trophies are recorded, the Platinum trophy unlocks automatically.

Players noticed the patch while checking the game on PlayStation systems and discussed it on forums. A PSNProfiles user, kingofbattle8174, posted: ‘This game has trophies now?? It’s been out for like three years. Time to do another run. Now that I see the list, the shooting with 80% accuracy is ok; now the flight one may be a test.’ Rebel Assault II originally launched on the original PlayStation and was later added to PlayStation Plus’ catalog of classic titles for modern consoles.
