Remedy Self-Publishes Control Resonant with Xbox Play Anywhere
Remedy will self-publish Control Resonant in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support and handheld optimizations developed with guidance from ID@Xbox.
Remedy Entertainment will self-publish Control Resonant, scheduled for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The studio confirmed the game will support Xbox Play Anywhere and include optimizations for handheld play, with development guidance from the ID@Xbox team.
Under Xbox Play Anywhere, players will be able to carry saves, game add-ons and achievements between supported Xbox consoles, PC and compatible handheld devices at no extra cost. Miika Huttunen, Remedy’s senior communications manager, told ID@Xbox the studio focused on performance and control schemes so the experience “feels great across platforms,” including on handheld hardware.
Remedy will handle publishing while working with ID@Xbox on platform support and rollout. Huttunen noted the partnership provided guidance as the studio prepares for launch and that Remedy’s long relationship with Xbox helped planning for the release.
The game shifts the series’ perspective to Dylan Faden as the playable protagonist. Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen described the original Control and Control Resonant as “siblings” that share a world but offer different viewpoints. The story places Dylan with the Federal Bureau of Control during a supernatural crisis as a cosmic entity and other threats, including the Hiss and the Mold, alter reality in Manhattan.
Remedy said combat and player abilities have evolved for the sequel and that designers added new weapons, abilities and quests. The studio also confirmed Resonant is intended to be accessible to players who have not played the first Control.
Level design moves beyond the Oldest House to a larger, interconnected urban environment. Anne-Marie Grönroos, lead level designer, explained the game alternates between outdoor and indoor spaces, uses visible paranatural landmarks to guide exploration, and increases vertical gameplay with frequent transitions between rooftops, street level and subterranean areas. Grönroos said the team aimed to contrast ordinary city spaces with paranatural events and to show how FBC operations affect civilians and the wider city.
Remedy described the Control franchise as flexible enough to support different types of entries while contributing to an ongoing story. The studio cited previous franchise entries as part of a broader narrative arc that Resonant will continue.
Control Resonant is confirmed for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with cross-device save and progression through Xbox Play Anywhere and specific optimizations for handheld play.
