Report: Flying Wild Hog remaking Tomb Raider 2 and 3
A French report says Flying Wild Hog is remaking Tomb Raider 2 (1997) and Tomb Raider 3 (1998) for PS5. Only Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is confirmed for Feb. 12, 2027.
A French report says developer Flying Wild Hog is working on full remakes of Tomb Raider 2 (1997) and Tomb Raider 3 (1998) for PlayStation 5. The only officially confirmed remake remains Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, scheduled for release on February 12, 2027.
The report states Flying Wild Hog has been assigned to produce full remakes of the two PlayStation-era titles. The studio is already credited on Legacy of Atlantis, and the report says development on the new remakes would continue irrespective of Legacy of Atlantis’ release status.
Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3 were released on PlayStation in 1997 and 1998. Both received current-generation remasters in recent years. The report describes the projects as full PS5 remakes rather than visual updates.
Observers note that handling multiple full remakes would represent a substantial workload for a single studio. The report does not identify any co-developers or additional teams, and it gives no details on staffing or project scope.
The publisher’s official description of Legacy of Atlantis states: “Experience the pinnacle of adventure with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a stunning reimagining of the 1996 genre-defining game. Whether you’re a veteran raider or new to Lara’s world, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delivers jaw-dropping visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, modern game design, and new surprises, while honoring the spirit and atmosphere of Lara Croft’s debut adventure.”
Until the publisher or developer confirms remakes of Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3, the report should be treated as unverified. Further announcements would be required to confirm development teams, release windows and the scope of any remakes.
