Re:Re:Ghosted brings HR-era analog horror to Xbox

Playstige Interactive, a one-person studio, released Re:Re:Ghosted on Xbox Series X through Microsoft’s ID@XBOX program on June 12, 2026. The first-person analog horror title is available on Xbox for $4.99.

The game presents workplace materials-VHS-style training tapes, onboarding slides, automated emails and corrupted HR files-as its primary horror elements. Players encounter those artifacts as low-fidelity recordings and documents rather than traditional monsters.

Playstige developed and self-published the game without a large publisher. The developer wrote that ID@XBOX provides distribution infrastructure that lets independent teams release work on Xbox.

In a statement the developer wrote, “There is a specific kind of fear that no in-game monsters can produce. It lives in automated reply emails, in HR portals that ask you to upload your ‘past-trauma’ in PDF format in the name of ‘curriculum-vitae’, in orientation videos that use the word ‘family’ to describe a company that will let you go without warning.”

The studio described the game’s aesthetic as intentionally raw. “The rawness of the aesthetic is not a limitation. It is the requirement,” the developer added. The design aims to make the project feel like an artifact that escaped a functioning institution rather than a polished commercial release.

Gameplay mixes exploration and psychological elements. Promotional material lists objectives such as finding the best resume, moving through backrooms, experiencing dream sequences and interacting with HR-related materials.

The title follows an analog-horror style that uses lo-fi media and corrupted files to suggest a larger system operating without explanation. The developer described the game’s core idea as “the horror of the familiar” and wrote that “the ghosting of Re:Re:Ghosted is not metaphorical. It is the silence after the application.”
