Resident Evil Requiem adds free Leon Must Die Forever mode
A free PS5 update adds Leon Must Die Forever, a time-attack mode that reuses campaign locations and dialogue, uses fixed enemy spawns, offers roguelite enhancers, and mode-only unlocks.
A free PS5 update for Resident Evil Requiem adds Leon Must Die Forever, a time-attack mode that puts players in control of Leon as he pursues Victor Gideon through sections of the campaign. The update went live today on PS5.
Runs begin on the streets of Wrenwood and progress through sections of the Rhodes Hill care center and Raccoon City. Players choose routes through doors that lead to alternate areas or boss encounters. Each area displays a recommended level from 1 to 20. A run ends when the timer expires or Leon dies; players receive a score and rank at the end of the run.
Progression in the mode is handled by the Blood Collector. Defeating enemies fills a point meter and every 100 points unlocks an Enhancer that grants a temporary perk for that run. Enhancers can increase damage, speed up the Blood Collector fill rate, restore health, repair weapons and provide other bonuses. Some Enhancers include trade-offs, such as a reduction to attack power.
Completing mode-specific challenges awards a challenge currency that can be spent inside the mode to buy items, weapons and additional voice lines for Leon. Unlocks purchased with this currency remain confined to Leon Must Die Forever and do not transfer to the main game. The update does not add new Trophies.
Enemy placements and encounter setups in the mode appear fixed across runs, with the primary variation coming from the weapons found during play. Dialogue in the mode is reused from the single-player campaign, and some lines reference objectives that do not apply to the time-attack runs. Players can spend challenge currency to unlock more voice lines, but many campaign voicelines still repeat during runs.
The mode adds a few new mechanics and enemy variants. Shooting specific spiders extends the run timer. New blue and red zombie variants require parrying or melee finishers to defeat. Area transitions use simple black screens, and much of the mode is assembled from existing level segments arranged around the time-attack ruleset.
Leon Must Die Forever offers a contained, combat-focused option for players who want short, repeatable runs using Resident Evil Requiem’s combat systems. All progression and rewards earned in the mode stay within the mode and do not affect the base game.
