Resident Evil Veronica PS5 Remake Is Entirely Third Person
Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed the Resident Evil Veronica remake for PS5 will use a third-person camera throughout, despite a first-person-styled reveal trailer.
Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed in a press Q&A that the Resident Evil Veronica remake for PlayStation 5 will be played entirely in third person and will not include any first-person segments.
The game was unveiled during Summer Game Fest with a trailer presented in a first-person viewpoint. Capcom framed that sequence as a deliberate misdirect; Hirabayashi noted the scene shown may not occur early in the story and will play out differently in the finished game.
Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of Code Veronica and is scheduled to release on PS5 next year. Capcom rebuilt the title for modern consoles and intends the remake to remain a third-person survival-horror experience rather than alternate camera perspectives during play.
Hirabayashi said the development team aimed to preserve the original third-person design. He also described the trailer’s presentation as an effort to surprise viewers and warned that the footage should not be taken as a direct example of the opening sections.
The Resident Evil series has used both first- and third-person cameras across different entries. Recent releases have offered camera choices or different perspectives for separate characters. The original Code Veronica included multiple playable characters; the remake will present the game in a single third-person view.
Capcom has not released extended gameplay footage showing the full third-person experience. Hirabayashi’s comments clarify the intended camera design for the PS5 release and identify how the final game will present player perspective.
