Resident Evil Veronica will be third-person on Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed Resident Evil Veronica will use a third-person viewpoint on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch in 2027, despite its first-person debut trailer.
Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed Resident Evil Veronica will use a third-person camera when it launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, despite the game’s debut trailer using a first-person perspective.
Hirabayashi explained the first-person sequence in the trailer was chosen to create mystery and surprise. He warned the scene shown may not appear in the finished game exactly as presented and may not occur at the very start of the experience.
Playable sections will use a single third-person viewpoint rather than the dual-protagonist structure seen in Resident Evil Requiem.
Capcom is treating Veronica as a main-series entry in the franchise’s timeline and intends for it to sit within the core continuity.
Hirabayashi noted the trailer’s visuals shared similarities with Requiem, which made the title identifiable despite the trailer’s ambiguous presentation.
The game is announced for Nintendo Switch 2 with a 2027 release window.
