Rhythm Paradise Groove adds RPG-style Beatspell mode

Rhythm Paradise Groove adds Beatspell, an RPG-style rhythm combat mode while keeping the series’ single-button minigames, Remix sequences and local multiplayer; previewed at Nintendo UK before its July 2 release.

Nintendo’s Rhythm Paradise Groove adds a new mode called Beatspell and retains the series’ single-button minigames, Remix sequences and local multiplayer. The game was shown at a preview at Nintendo’s UK offices ahead of its July 2 release.

Core minigames require players to press one or a few buttons in time with a beat. Stages use tight timing windows, clear audio cues and simple animations. Individual games are brief and scored on timing.

Remix sequences combine several minigames in quick succession and require players to change timing and inputs between segments. At the preview, these sequences demanded constant attention and rapid adaptation.

Local multiplayer includes cooperative and competitive options. One cooperative stage has players defend a king’s carriage from incoming arrows with strict timing. A competitive stage asks players to press A as close as possible to an in‑game 3:00 p.m. mark to win a cake slice, with the winner’s character receiving a visual change. A tester noted possible TV input lag during one session.

Beatspell is presented as a light RPG-style mode in which players cast spells by hitting beats. Better timing increases spell damage or healing. Preview hands-on covered only the first two levels; encounters were small-scale and typically involved a single enemy.

The limited demo left the scope and long-term variety of Beatspell unclear. The preview did not establish how many levels or how much additional content the mode will include at launch.

Timing windows across modes were narrow at the preview, increasing difficulty for new players and requiring practice to achieve higher scores.

Rhythm Paradise Groove is scheduled to arrive on July 2. The release pairs the series’ single-button rhythm games and Remix sequences with the new Beatspell mode and local multiplayer features.
