Riot to End Development of PS5 Fighter 2XKO; Trophies Impacted
Riot Games will end development of PS5 fighter 2XKO in December 2026 and remove ranked, casual and private lobbies in September, making two trophies unobtainable.
Riot Games will end active development of 2XKO, its PlayStation 5 fighting game, in December 2026. The studio plans to remove ranked, casual and private online lobbies in September 2026.
Riot wrote that 2XKO, which launched on PS5 in January 2026, did not keep a sufficient player base to reach a sustainable path. “Over the last few months, we’ve been monitoring 2XKO’s trajectory closely, and what we’ve seen is painting a clear, consistent picture,” the company wrote, adding that many players tried the game but not enough remained active to support ongoing development.
The scheduled removal of ranked play in September will make the Locked In trophy unobtainable. The Platinum trophy will also be affected because it depends on a set of achievements that include online-play milestones tied to ranked, casual or private lobbies.
Riot announced that servers will remain online beyond 2026 so players can access remaining game modes, but after December the studio does not commit to further feature updates or balance patches. The company published a 2026 roadmap on its blog and said it will keep consulting with players, tournament organizers, competitors and creators connected to the 2XKO community.
2XKO arrived as a League of Legends–inspired fighter and attracted early interest and daily players. Riot concluded retention levels were not sufficient to justify continued investment in competitive infrastructure.
Riot wrote, “There’s no perfect way to handle a decision like this,” and added, “As 2026 continues, we’ll be figuring out what more we can do for players, TOs, competitors, and creators that have consistently shown up for the FGC through 2X.” The company encouraged affected players to review the blog post for full timing and details.
