Rockstar Calls GTA 6 Leak ‘Heartbreaking’ Ahead of Launch

Rockstar posted on social media acknowledging that unauthorized Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay clips circulated online, calling the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and apologizing for the delay in finishing the game. The studio wrote it is “very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has — from getting the game finished (nearly there!)” and warned the material will leave the game “impacted by some spoilers” before launch.

The footage that appeared included multiple gameplay clips showing a closer view of the game’s map, Leonida, and in-game character interactions. An uploader using the name Cyberleek continued to share material after Rockstar’s message, posting a clip that reportedly shows the game’s protagonist, Jason, stealing cars from non-player characters. Rockstar declined to provide technical details about how the files were obtained or the scope of internal assets exposed.

The company requested that players avoid sharing spoiled content, noting the full, official presentation will come from Rockstar in its own time. The studio added that the team remains focused on finishing the game and delivering its intended experience despite the leaks. An extended look for Netflix subscribers is scheduled this week and will include teaser trailer footage featuring Jason and Lucia and additional views of Leonida.

Grand Theft Auto VI is due Nov. 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not changed the release date and noted only that some elements of the launch will be affected by spoilers now in the public domain.
