ROG Xbox Ally X20 unveiled; price likely above $1,000
ASUS revealed the ROG Xbox Ally X20 on June 1. ROG’s product director called it ‘the opportunity of a lifetime’ and warned component costs could push price above $1,000.
ASUS unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally X20 on June 1 as an upgraded follow-up to the ROG Xbox Ally X. ROG’s Director of Product for Gaming, Gabriel Meng, called the chance to build a new Xbox-branded handheld “the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Meng indicated the company is targeting availability in 2026. The X20 features a larger OLED display, TMR joysticks and other hardware updates intended to position it as a higher-end handheld.
Some early hands-on testers reported positive impressions of the display and controls. ASUS has not published final specifications, battery figures or an official launch date for the X20.
Meng warned that global component shortages and rising parts prices are increasing production costs and that any higher costs would be passed to buyers. He added, “If those components end up costing us more, then that’s unfortunately something that’s going to be unable to be subsidized. That will pass through the consumer.”
Market observers have suggested a likely retail price at or above $1,000 given the X20’s premium parts and current supply conditions. ASUS continues to offer the existing ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X at lower price tiers.
ASUS confirmed it will provide more concrete information on specifications, pricing and production timing as plans are finalized.
