Rumor: PlayStation Remaking inFAMOUS 1 & 2 Without Sucker Punch
A reporter says PlayStation is developing PS5 remakes of inFAMOUS 1 and 2 and that Sucker Punch may not be involved, based on a single unverified source.
Jordan Middler reported on a recent podcast that PlayStation is developing PS5 remakes of the first two inFAMOUS games and that the work may be happening outside of the series’ original developer, Sucker Punch. The claim rests on a single, uncorroborated source.
Middler said he was “under the impression that there is an inFAMOUS thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute” and that the information he received implied remakes of the PS3-era inFAMOUS 1 and 2 for PS5. He later clarified to a host that the tip came from one source, has not been verified and could have been canceled.
Middler added, “That wasn’t told to me directly, but that was very much implied.” No official confirmation has been issued by PlayStation or any studio tied to the franchise.
Sucker Punch developed the original inFAMOUS titles. In 2022 the studio said it had no plans at the time to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper and that no other developers were working on related projects. More recently, Sucker Punch executive Nate Fox expressed interest in a trilogy re-release but noted the studio focuses on one project at a time and was completing Ghost of Yotei. Ghost of Yotei has since released, along with a free Legends multiplayer mode.
Fans responded across social platforms and on the inFAMOUS subreddit after the report circulated. User Sraffiti_G posted, “I really hope its real, I’d love remakes of 1 and 2 or a direct sequel to Second Son.” Another user, Walkingguy86, wrote that without Sucker Punch involved they would not be interested and suggested older titles might be more likely to be remade from the ground up.
For now, the only public information consists of the reporter’s remarks and fan discussion. PlayStation has not announced any inFAMOUS remakes or identified which studio, if any, is developing them.
