Scarlet Nexus Tops 2 Million Sales, Fans Seek Sequel

Bandai Namco’s action RPG Scarlet Nexus has reached two million copies sold nearly five years after its 2021 launch.

The game sold roughly one million copies in its first year and has since reached two million through steady, long-term sales rather than a single strong launch. PlayStation Store pricing records show the title has been discounted several times, with prices falling to as low as $19.99 / £14.99.

Scarlet Nexus launched on PC via Steam at release and was available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It did not receive a Nintendo Switch port.

At release, reviewers praised the game’s combat concepts and visual style. Reviewers and players also pointed to uneven pacing and story elements they described as lacking depth. Some observers said Western packaging and marketing downplayed the game’s anime art direction.

Fans have renewed calls for a sequel following the two-million sales milestone. Bandai Namco has not announced any plans for a follow-up.

The publisher has not disclosed production budgets for Scarlet Nexus. Some industry observers described the title as relatively costly to produce for an original IP. Other Bandai Namco titles have recorded higher sales; for example, Code Vein sold about four million copies.

Platform availability and pricing appear to have affected the game’s sales pattern. The simultaneous Steam launch meant there was no later PC port to provide a sales boost, and the absence of a Switch version limited access to that console’s user base.

At the time of the sales update, there is no official statement from Bandai Namco about future development or a sequel for Scarlet Nexus.
