Sega unveils Crazy Taxi: World Tour at Xbox showcase

Sega revealed Crazy Taxi: World Tour at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. Kenji Kanno returns; the 2027 game has Axel chasing masked thieves across five cities with multiplayer and vehicle customization.

Sega of America unveiled Crazy Taxi: World Tour during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 and set a 2027 release date. Original series creator Kenji Kanno is leading the project and players take control of longtime protagonist Axel.

The debut trailer, set to The Offspring song “All I Want,” shows Axel racing through a familiar city before a new driver appears and triggers an international pursuit. Sega described a story-driven World Tour campaign in which Axel hunts masked villains who have stolen his taxi while completing timed challenges and extreme missions.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour will include five distinct cities with new maps and varied terrain. Sega of America said the game will offer multiplayer modes to compete with friends or online opponents, a range of unlockable vehicles and customization options, plus a Classic or Arcade Mode that restores the original score-chasing gameplay.

The publisher did not provide a specific launch window beyond the 2027 calendar year.

The original Crazy Taxi launched in arcades and on Sega’s Dreamcast in 1999 and featured pickup-and-deliver gameplay, time-based scoring and a licensed punk-rock soundtrack. The new title combines those time-based scoring mechanics with global multiplayer, expanded maps and vehicle customization.
